Narad Muni, the divine sage and messenger of the gods, once engaged in deep meditation and penance. His devotion was so strong that even Kamadeva (the god of desire) failed to disturb him.
Feeling victorious, Narad Ji believed he had conquered all forms of desire. A sense of pride began to grow. Wanting to test his spiritual accomplishment further, he decided to marry and experience worldly life.
👑 The Divine Trick – Vishnu’s Maya
Narad Ji approached Lord Vishnu, expressing his wish to find a beautiful bride and requested Vishnu to bless him with a charming appearance — as beautiful as Himself.
Vishnu agreed… but added a divine twist.
He gave Narad Ji a form — but instead of divine beauty, He gave him the face of a monkey (vanar) through his Maya (illusion), without Narad Ji realizing it.
Narad, unaware of the transformation, walked confidently into the royal swayamvar (bride selection ceremony) of a princess.

At the swayamvar, Narad Ji was laughed at by everyone. The princess rejected him, and the crowd mocked him.
Confused and hurt, Narad looked into a mirror and was shocked to see a monkey’s face staring back at him. Realizing the deception, he felt deeply insulted.
Furious, he turned to Lord Vishnu and uttered a powerful curse.
